PRESS COUNCIL IN B&H AT 10TH AIPCE ASSEMLBY IN BERLIN

Members of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils in Europe appraised work of the Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina as extremely important for development of the media self-regulation in the Region

Signed Memorandum of Co-operation with Self-regulatory bodies of the neighbouring countries


At the 10th Assembly of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe in Berlin, held in organisation of the German Press Council (Deutscher Presserat) from 23rd till 26th October this year, participated representatives of 25 countries, AIPCE members. Annual reports of all participants were presented, and also was intensely worked on adjustment of ethical standards of the Press Code and principles in dealing with complaints of citizens regarding unprofessional media reporting. There was a discussion on new technologies and ways of ethical editing of the Internet and the Internet editions. The Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina was represented by General Manger of daily Dnevni list, Mr Ismet Brkovic, Director of magazine Slobodna Bosna, Mr Erbein Residbegovic, Director of magazine Start, Mr Dario Novalic and Executive Director of the Press Council, Ms Ljiljana Zurovac. Members of the AIPCE have apprised report on work of the B&H Press Council as very successful, especially in terms of promotion of journalistic ethical standards via educational programs for students of journalism and judges, in the context of application of the Law on Protection Against Defamation in B&H. The important role of the B&H Press Council in development of the self-regulation in the Region was additionally emphasised.

At the Assembly, the Press Council in B&H signed a Memorandum of Co-operation with Self-regulatory bodies from the neighbouring countries, with aim of more quality monitoring of the press being regularly distributed in countries of the same linguistic area in the Region.
