14 Complaints regarding the writings of print and online media were considered

In the period from January to June 2013,

the Press Council in BiH received a total of 89 complaints 



The Complaints Commission of the Press Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina held its fifty-fourth sessions during which it considered 14 complaints regarding the writings of print and online media, received in the period from April to June 2013.

Breaches of the Press Code of BiH were found in 8 articles, while 6 complaints were not upheld.

The Complaints Commission of the Press Council in BiH found four breaches of Article 2 - Editorial Responsibility and Article 7 - Opportunity to Reply

Article 3 - Incitement was breached in three articles, while Article 5 - Accuracy and Fair Reporting was breached in two articles.  

General Provisions, Article 9 - Privacy, and Article 15 - Complaints, of the Press Code of BiH were breached on one occasion.

 

Out of all the complaints considered during the session, five complaints regarded portal content, while nine complaints regarded the writings of the press.

 

In addition to the complaints considered at the Session of the Complaints Commission, the Press Council in BiH received 11 complaints, 8 of which were resolved through self-regulation (publishing of denials, reactions, removing articles or comments), 1 complaint was out of the Press Council’s jurisdiction, in 1 case the complainant was advised, while in 1 case the complainant withdrew from the complaint.

 

In the period from January to June 2013, the Press Council received a total of 89 complaints regarding the writings of the press and online media.
