Work group for addendum of the Press Code with provisions for on-line media held its first meeting on Friday, 15th of April 2011 in Banja Luka. The Work Group is comprised of members of the Complaints Commission of the PC in BiH, members of the Board of Directors of the PC in BiH and representatives of online media, and it was formed at the Round table for on-line media „Protection of professional ethical standards in on-line media“, held in Neum on 19th of March 2011.

Being that, as of December 2010, the Press Council in BiH has included on-line media in the system of self-regulation, need for amending the Press Code with provisions related to reporting of on-line media, is evident.

During the meeting the first proposals for amendments to parts of the Press Code of BiH in relation to professional reporting of online media were stated. The question of content created by users themselfes (User Generated Content) which is separate form the editorial content was also considered. In relation to this, recommendations for online media which regard the manner of editing this content will be passed.

The Press Council in BiH will be among the first Press Councils within the Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe, AIPCE, that will amend the existing Press Code with provisions relating to specific issues of on-line journalism. So far, this was done in only three European countries, and by the end of the year, all members of the AIPCE should make revisions of their Press Code. Proposals of the amendments will be sent, for discussion and comments to on-line media, after which, the Complaints Commission will definitely adopt the changes.

By signing the acceptance of the "Press and On-line media Code“, on-line media will officially accept self-regulation and fulfill one of conditions for becoming member of the Press Council in BiH.

First on-line media who are members of the Press Council in BiH, as of December 2010, are the portals sarajevo-x.com, dnevnik.ba and 24sata.info.

The Session of the Work Group for amending The Press Code in BiH with provisions relating to on-line media was made possible by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, SEE Program.
